SHANKLIN:

Shanklin beach is overlooked by dramatic sandstone cliffs where there is a lift to take you to the top and it is about a 5 minute walk to the town centre.

The beach is long and sandy, ideal for sunbathing and swimming. Dotto trains operate in the summer along the esplanade with it's hotels, places to eat and drink and amusements. There is also a play area for the kids called Jungle Jim's.

There are a selection of restaurants from Mediterranean to Indian and Thai and cafes and pubs all in the main town.

you can visit Shanklin Chine where you can step back in time and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a historic gorge, first opened in 1817 and former home of smugglers.

Shanklin Old village is very quaint with it's thatched cottages and gift shops.
